Hello, my name is Alan Jay Palmer, aka Bap, Pianist /Composer/ Educator and the Founder of the United Institute of Music Science and I want to welcome and congratulate you for enrolling in Systems for Improvisation course and joining the United Jazz Academy community!!!

After thirty years experience as a performer, composer, educator and through my great mentorships, research, and studies I have created The United Jazz Academy as an authentic "Way" of teaching our great American Art Form known as Jazz, but which we like to term as

"The Music of the Spirit".

The United Institute of Music Science is different than any other music school in that we have the direct lineage to the sources and Inventors of Jazz Studies, Dr. Jackie McLean, Jaki Byard, Hotep Galeta, Walter Davis Jr, and many other Masters. We have not only expanded, improved and modernized the systems and curriculums of our teachers, but also embrace a holistic world music concept in our school. We teach the spiritual unification of different music styles, cultures, communities and genres. Music is our universal language and we believe that good music and artists do a lot in the healing, enriching, and unifying our world.

ALL of our diverse teaching artists (many world famous and legendary) are qualified, experienced, gifted, and dedicated to helping you achieve your goals, whatever level you are currently at.
